‘The Fall Of The House Of Usher’: Mike Flanagan Reveals His Cast For New Netflix Series
The Master of Netflix Horror is returning with a miniseries based on Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher. Now the Midnight Mass director has revealed the first wave of casting for the highly anticipated series via Twitter and we are feeling the fantasy.
The very recently announced cast includes faces both fresh and familiar to the Flanagan extended universe of fright.
According to Flanagan, the “miniseries is a modern remix of some of the most iconic works of Edgar Allan Poe. To tell this epic tale of greed, horror, and tragedy, we have assembled the largest ensemble cast in the history of Intrepid Pictures.”
Here is the first casting for The Fall of the House of Usher
Headlining this incredible ensemble, leading this extraordinary cast as Roderick Usher, the towering patriarch of the Usher dynasty… the legendary FRANK LANGELLA.

Also front and center, reuniting with Intrepid for our fourth project together, my dear friend and invaluable collaborator, the one and only… CARLA GUGINO.
As Madeline Usher, Roderick’s sister and the hidden hand of the Usher dynasty, we are thrilled to welcome the graceful, powerful, incomparable… MARY MCDONNELL.
As Poe’s legendary investigator C. Auguste Dupin, we are so honored to welcome back one of my favorite past collaborators, the extraordinary… CARL LUMBLY.
And a new addition to the dark worlds of Intrepid and of Edgar Allan Poe, playing a character surprisingly at home in the shadows, we are thrilled to welcome… the iconic MARK HAMILL.
Poe’s The Fall of the House of Usher follows an unnamed narrator who visits the last two remaining members of the Usher family. What ensues is a horrifying plot about family, legacy, and identity. But this project will involve more than just this short story. While Netflix didn’t release any details, they did reveal that this series will be based on multiple works by Poe.
The Fall of the House of Usher is an eight-part limited series. And no, it is not related to any of Flanagan’s previous work.
