B-Sides: Little Witches Make it Rain

A commenter on IMDB describes Little Witches as being like an R-rated version of Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby One More Time” music video but with a horror twist. That’s not entirely inaccurate. Pretty young girls in Catholic schoolgirl uniforms dabble in the dark arts, causing all manner of death, demonic horror, and wanton sluttiness.
It would be very easy to dismiss Little Witches as a direct-to-video knock-off of The Craft because, well, it kind of was. But The Craft didn’t have naked Catholic schoolgirls summoning Satan or A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors’ bad girl Jennifer Rubin and Poltergeist mad munchkin Zelda Rubinstein as devout nuns or David Lynch regular Jack Nance as a doomed priest or a young Clea DuVall getting skewered by the horns of absolute evil.
For the most part, those that remember Little Witches remember it primarily for the T&A – if Seth MacFarlane ever hosts the Emmy Awards, he can mention current “CSI” co-star Sheeri Rappaport in the TV version of his “I Saw Your Boobs” song.
It’s also remembered for a pretty good and now fairly obscure rock song, “Who’s Going to Make It Rain?,” by a band I’m not familiar with, Mr. Jones and the Previous. (According to Wikipedia, Mr. Jones is Andras Jones, best known for playing Rick Johnson in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.) The song originally appeared on the 1993 album Mr. Jones and the Fascists in Search of the 100th Monkey (I would pay to see a movie with that title!) so it’s not a true B-Sides in the sense that it wasn’t actually composed for the film. Still, it’s definitely B-Sides worthy.
