While at the 2013 SXSW Film Festival, Dread Central had the opportunity to sit down and chat exclusively with three of the creative minds behind the brand new Evil Dead reboot…
… producers Bruce Campbell and Robert Tapert as well as co-writer/director Fede Alvarez.
Also co-written by Rodo Sayagues, this incarnation of Evil Dead stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas and Elizabeth Blackmore as a group of friends who head off to a remote cabin in order to help one of them kick her drug habit. Of course when they arrive, they discover a mysterious book waiting for them that unleashes an unholy force that won’t stop until they’re all dead.
During our exclusive interview with Campbell, Alvarez and Tapert, we heard more about this latest chapter in the Evil Dead saga and why everyone involved wanted to utilize a brand-new cast of characters for this installment instead of using some of the franchise’s more iconic characters. Campbell also discussed the enduring legacy of the original film some 34 years after shooting it with Sam Raimi and what they’ll have to do to raise the stakes on Evil Dead 2 now that it’s been announced.
