Singer Tinashe Spills Blood and Secrets Behind ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’-Inspired Music Video

To kick off Horror in Color’s #HipHopandHorror series, superstar Tinashe (“2 On”) unveiled behind-the-scenes secrets from her latest music video, “Naturally.” These visuals received viral attention when fans noticed shot-by-shot inspiration from 1974’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. 

“I really thought it was gonna be something that nobody would be anticipating. Especially on Valentine’s Day. Horror has been one of my favorite genres forever,” shared Tinashe. The trailblazing artist went on to explain the “happy coincidence” of releasing the same week of the release of Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre reboot.

Horror in Color is a growing platform painting the horror genre with colors of intersectional diversity, inclusion, and equity. Since 2019, they’ve curated online and virtual events aimed at making the genre accessible to all, especially women, people of color, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, and allies. Tinashe is among the contemporary R&B artists who arrived during the mid-2010s with a high level of pop appeal. She made her commercial breakthrough in 2014 with the Top 40 hit “2 On.”
