With her previous films Chanthaly and Dearest Sister, Laos-based director Mattie Do made history as the country’s first and only woman filmmaker. And, she’s also the only filmmaker in the country to work in the horror genre. We sat down with Mattie Do to talk her third feature film The Long Walk and its disturbing reflection of grief.

In The Long Walk, an old scavenger living on the fringes of a near-future society exploits a ghostly companion’s ability to traverse time. With her, he hopes to prevent his mother’s suffering from a terminal illness. In this exclusive clip, we learn more about the powers of this ghost and just how long he and the ghost have been intertwined.
