‘The Munsters’: Cassandra Peterson — AKA Elvira — Has Been Cast In Rob Zombie’s Reboot!

Big news over on Mockingbird Lane today! Horror director and rock icon Rob Zombie took to Instagram to announce the latest ghoul cast in his reboot of The Munsters. None other than the legendary Cassandra Peterson is now announced to be playing Barbara Carr, “the number 1 real estate agent in all of Mockingbird Heights”.

Cassandra Peterson, perhaps better known as her alter-ego Elvira, is one of the most celebrated faces in the history of horror. The renowned horror host, actor and personality joins The Munsters cast, as announced via Rob Zombie’s Instagram.


Here is what the director had to share: “ATTENTION CASTING NEWS! 💀Straight from the set of THE MUNSTERS is your first look at Barbara Carr, the #1 real estate agent in all of Mockingbird Heights. Barbara is played by none other the CASSANDRA PETERSON @therealelvira . Yes, the Mistress of the Dark has joined the cast of THE MUNSTERS.”

This is very exciting news for the project, and we can’t wait to see what Peterson does with the role! The cast also includes Sherri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, Jeff Daniel Philips as Herman Munster, and Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa Munster.

Subsequently, the original cast of The Munsters featured Fred Gwynne, Yvonne de Carlo, Beverly Owen, Butch Patrick, and Al Lewis as Grandpa Munster. Together, the group played the average nuclear American family. But with a twist—they were a clan of monsters! 

Lastly, there’s still no word if The Munsters will head to theaters, or if it’ll be exclusive through the streamer Peacock sometime in 2022.
