Could A New ‘Blair Witch’ Movie Be On The Horizon?
The Blair Witch Project shocked audiences when it was first released in 1999 to the point that people believed the three hikers, Heather, Mike, and Josh, were actually missing. It took off as a viral sensation, putting found footage on the map as a terrifying way of making horror films. Since its release, it’s seen a non-found footage sequel as a reboot in 2016. Nw, there may be another on the horizon.
On his website The Ankler, Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider wrote that Lionsgate is reportedly looking to relaunch The Blair Witch Project franchise.
Sneider tweeted, “Start prepping those pitches, genre scribes, because it sounds like Lionsgate is ready to venture back into the woods again for another The Blair Witch Project, since good IP is never truly dead in the Streaming Age…”
In 2018, we reported that Lionsgate was developing a Blair Witch TV series. We’re curious if this could be the same project or a new film entirely. Either way, we cannot wait to see what they have in store for us!
