‘Flux Gourmet’ Trailer — Peter Strickland Serves Up A Nasty And Delightful New Meal [Watch]
Peter Strickland is known for concocting visual feasts, from The Duke of Burgundy to In Fabric. He takes the seemingly mundane and takes it to a ridiculous and gorgeous extreme, creating both fascinating and darkly funny films. Now, he’s wandering into the wild world of food in his latest film, Flux Gourmet. This isn’t about chefs, though. It’s about a world where instead of rockstars, people make music with food.
Check out the full synopsis below:
A sonic collective who can’t decide on a name takes up a residency at an institute devoted to culinary and alimentary performance. The members Elle di Elle, Billy Rubin, and Lamina Propria are caught up in their own power struggles. Their dysfunctional dynamic is furthermore exacerbated when they have to answer to the institute’s head, Jan Stevens. With the various rivalries unfolding, Stones, the Institute’s ‘dossierge,’ has to privately endure increasingly fraught stomach problems whilst documenting the collective’s activities.
Upon hearing of Stones’ visits to the gastroenterologist, Dr. Glock, Elle coerces him into her performances in a desperate bid for authenticity. The reluctant Stones puts up with the collective’s plans to use his condition for their art whilst Jan Stevens goes to war with Elle over creative differences.

The tension between culinary performance art and digestive problems is a recipe for delicious disaster. Leave it to Strickland to take the outlandish and make it into something so compelling. But that’s why we love him.
Asa Butterfield, Gwendoline Christie, Ariane Labed, Fatma Mohamed, Makis Papadimitriou, Richard Bremmer, and Leo Bill star in Flux Gourmet. Both Gwendoline Christie and Fatma Mohamed starred in Strickland’s In Fabric, with Mohamed delivering an iconic performance. Here, Christie is decked out in stunning costumes that highlight the opulence and extremes of this world. And she looks incredible.
Flux Gourmet hits select theaters and VOD on June 24.
