The Top 100 Horror Movies Of All Time, According to Reddit
Like the cycle of the werewolf, under every occasional full moon Reddit assembles to collect data on the top 100 horror movies ever made. This week happens to mark the tenth anniversary of the famous list of prestige horrors. Just like every other time the collection of titles has been crafted, the front page of the Internet has come through with some very reliable answers.
From modern horrors like Ari Aster’s Midsommar, to silent classics like F.W. Murnau’s Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, Reddit has voted on a fairly diverse and fascinating list of terrifying titles.
A few films that made this year’s list that were not included in any previous ones include Na Hong-jin’s The Wailing, Joe Dante’s Gremlins, Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds, and Tom Holland’s Child’s Play. The only three films on the following list that have never made their way onto a Dreadit guide include William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist III, Michael Haneke’s Funny Games (1997), and David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.

In light of recent current events, I thought it might be worth noting the grand sum of all three woman directors who had films make this list of horrors. Jennifer Kent’s terrifying meditation on motherhood, The Babadook, is first in line at number 53. Mary Haron’s brutal adaptation of American Psycho then sits neatly at 59. And lastly, Mary Lambert’s terrifying interpretation of Pet Sematary makes it in at 72.
Now, what say you? What are some horror classics that deserve to make the aforementioned list but didn’t? And more importantly, how many of the above horror movies have you actually seen yourself? Make sure to let me know your number on Twitter via @joshkorngut. I’m always around to chat all things horror!
