Esther Arrives In the ‘Orphan: First Kill’ Trailer So Lock Up Your Husbands
The trailer for Orphan: First Kill is here and Esther is back in her bloody, rage-filled glory. Directed by William Brent Bell (The Boy), Isabelle Fuhrman resurrected her iconic role in a movie that is perhaps soaked in even more blood than before.
In this prequel to the events of the 2009 film, we follow Esther after she escapes from a psychiatric facility in Estonia. From there, she travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. Yet, an unexpected twist arises that pits her against a mother who will protect her family from the murderous “child” at any cost.

As a diehard fan of Orphan, I’m glad they used “The Glory Of Love” in the trailer. It’s a nice little throwback to Esther’s “favorite” song from the first film. Also, we’re getting more of the strange blacklight paintings! That aspect of the original film was never really explored but was so campy and bizarre that I couldn’t help but love it. So perhaps we’re getting a little more info as to why Esther loves it so much.
Quite a few camera tricks were used to make Fuhrman look like she’s still nine years old. From the trailer, it looks relatively successful, if not a little awkward when it comes to height differences. We’re curious to see how Bell pulls it all off when the film hits theaters later this summer.
Julia Stiles and Rossif Sutherland star alongside Fuhrman in Orphan: First Kill.
Orphan: First Kill comes to theaters, digital, and Paramount+ on August 19, 2022.
