More ‘Fear Street’ Is Coming To Netflix

Fear Street

Horror author R.L. Stine terrified many of us when we were kids. From Goosebumps to the more grown-up Fear Street series, Stine shaped many of our childhoods. Last summer, we saw a trilogy of Fear Street films, directed by Leigh Janiak, released on Netflix throughout the month of July. It was the horror event of the summer, and now we may be getting more in this series.

In a recent interview with Yahoo! Entertainment, Stine let slip that more Fear Street movies are likely on the way. He said:

I also hear rumors about more Fear Street movies for Netflix, because the first ones did so well last summer. Those films kind of shocked me, because they were all R-rated, and I’ve never done anything R-rated! All those teenagers were getting slashed. I was like, “Suddenly, I have a slasher movie!”

Bloody Disgusting then confirmed those rumors and was also told that Netflix is allegedly already in development for the next films.

The first trilogy took place in 1994, 1978, and 1666. Instead of trying to closely adapt the novels, the story instead extended the lore created by Stine about the witch Sarah Fier and Shadyside’s curse. The series follows Deena (Kiana Madeira) as she tries to save her girlfriend from Sarah’s grasp.

Dread Central will report more Fear Street news as we get it.
