‘The Last of Us’ Teaser: HBO Max Brings Heart-Breaking Zombie Video Game To Life
In 2013, video game publisher Naughty Dog destroyed our hearts and terrified our minds with The Last Of Us. The game takes place in a world where a mutated Cordyceps fungus turns humans into strange human-plant zombies. It follows a grizzled survivor Joel and his ward Ellie who holds the secret to ending this devastating plague. After the massive success of the game, HBO Max is adapting the tragic tale into a series starring Pedro Pascal.
The series will closely follow the game as Joel loses his daughter, struggles to survive, and comes to meet Ellie. He’s given a mission by the Fireflies, a group searching for a cure, to keep Ellie safe. But the road is paved with monsters both human and fungal.

HBO Max’s teaser reveal comes on September 26, which is designated as The Last Of Us Day by Naughty Dog. It’s the date that everything initially goes absolutely downhill with the virus outbreak.
Pascal stars in the series as Joel, with Bella Ramsey playing Ellie. Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Storm Reid, Merle Dandridge, Jeffrey Pierce, Lamar Johnson, Keivonn Woodard, Graham Greene, Elaine Miles, Ashley Johnson, and Troy Baker also star.
