Horror Anthology ‘Satanic Hispanics’ Wins Big At Fantastic Fest!
Big news today out of Fantasitc Fest in Austin, Texas. The premiere genre festival which celebrates the best of the best in new horror has announced its award recipients for its 2022 competition. Among the winners this year are the directors behind the upcoming Dread title Satanic Hispanics. The anticipated new film took home the award for Best Director(s) under the horror category, according to The Wrap. The directors featured in Satanic Hispanics are a must-follow ensemble of Hispanic talent working in horror today. They include Mike Mendez, Demian Rugna, Eduardo Sánchez, Gigi Saul Guerrero, and Alejandro Brugues.
The exciting and terrifying anthology horror project has gotta be seen to be believed. In the film, when police raid a house in El Paso, they find it full of dead Latinos, and only one survivor. He’s known as The Traveler. When they take him to the station for questioning, he tells them those lands are full of magic and talks about the horrors he’s encountered in his long time on this earth, about portals to other worlds, mythical creatures, demons, and the undead.
Alejandro Mendez, Demian Rugna, and Lino K. Villa wrote the script for Satanic Hispanics. Efren Ramirez (Napoleon Dynamite), Greg Grunberg (Star Wars IX), Jacob Vargas (Sons Of Anarchy), Hemky Madera (Weeds), Patricia Velasquez (The Mummy), Jonah Ray Rodrigues, Demian Salomon, Luis Machin, and Ari Gallegos star in the film.
