Stephen King Highly Recommends This Disturbing New Horror Release

As audiences anxiously await Paramount’s incoming horror event Smile, early reviews are rolling in. And a lot of them look pretty positive. While Dread Central‘s Drew Tinnin felt the movie lacked the fun and silliness promised in its marketing campaign, some other genre fans are making their own feelings known. Iconic author Stephen King has taken to Twitter to share his views on the title. Check out what he has to say about the movie below.

In his first ever feature-length film Smile, director Parker Finn twists the basic symbol for happiness and warps into something mean, scary and unnatural. I mean, there isn’t much scarier than a wide smile with dead eyes. It’s a trope we’ve seen before, but Smile looks like it’s revealing something new. Now, Finn uses this trope with what seems to be a scary signalling of violent death.

In Smile, after witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can’t explain. As an overwhelming terror begins taking over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.

Jessie T. Usher, Kyle Gallner, Robin Weigert, and Caitlin Stasey also star in Smile, alongside Kal Penn and Rob Morgan.
