We’re always keeping our eye on the titles Stephen King recommends over Twitter. The master of modern horror usually has outside-of-the-box, bizarre, and sometimes terrifying movie and TV recommendations. He recently took to Twitter to recommend the violent and charming Kleo, and honestly, I couldn’t get enough. Now the King of Horror is back with a brand new suggestion on the world’s premiere streamer: Lou.

Netflix describes Lou as follows:

A storm rages. A young girl is kidnapped. Her mother (Jurnee Smollett) teams up with the mysterious woman next door (Allison Janney) to pursue the kidnapper—a journey that tests their limits and exposes shocking secrets from their pasts.

King describes the Netflix original movie as action/suspense, and I’m definitely intrigued. It’s great to see that Allison Janney is taking on more genre roles, as she’s one of our best performers and we need to see her bring more chills into our lives. In 2018 Janney won an Academy Award for her supporting turn in I, Tonya, the Tonya Harding biopic.

Janney’s latest effort Lou is directed by Anna Foerster who is also responsible for Underworld: Blood Wars and episodes of Outlander and Westworld. Jurnee Smollett, Logan Marshall-Green, Ridley Asha Bateman, and Matt Craven also star in the film. Check out the trailer for the film below. Lou hit Netflix on September 23, 2022.
