Netflix has been full of spooks and surprises this Halloween season. From Mike Flanagan’s The Midnight Club to Rob Zombie’s The Munsters, the massive streamer is sparing no expense when it comes to October spook shows. The latest and greatest seasonal release on the platform is Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities, an eight-part anthology delivering terrifying scares of all varieties. Now Stephen King is using his Twitter platform to spread the word about this gothic and unsettling new project. Check out his thoughts on it below.

In Cabinet of Curiosities, acclaimed Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro has curated an anthology of frights intended to disrupt our usual perceptions of the genre. From macabre to magical, gothic to grotesque or classically creepy, these eight equally sophisticated and sinister tales (including two original stories by del Toro) are brought to life by a team of writers and directors personally chosen by del Toro.

Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities was launched earlier this week. Two episodes of Cabinet of Curiosities will appear every day until Friday, October 28.

“With Cabinet of Curiosities, we set out to showcase the realities existing outside of our normal world: the anomalies and curiosities. We hand-picked and curated a group of stories and storytellers to deliver these tales, whether they come from outer space, supernatural lore, or simply within our minds,” said Guillermo del Toro. “Just in time for Halloween, each of these eight tales is a fantastical peek inside the cabinet of delights existing underneath the reality we live in.”

One of the most exciting aspects of the new series is the mega talent behind the different stories. Vincenzo Natali, Catherine Hardwicke, Guillermo Navarro, Keith Thomas, David Prior, Jennifer Kent, Ana Lily Amirpour and Panos Cosmatos all lend their directing talents to episodes, making this a who’s-who of horror cinema talent.
