In a follow-up to our recent items concerning the forthcoming Anchor Bay Films release of Chris Freeman and Justin Jones’ Sorority Party Massacre, here’s exclusive word on and teaser art for the flick’s sequel, the aptly-named Bachelorette Party Massacre!
To be co-directed by Jones and Freeman from a script by the latter, Sorority Party Massacre leads Ed O’Ross and Tom Downey will return in Bachelorette Party Massacre to reprise their roles as ‘Sheriff Lumpkin’ and ‘Detective Watts’, respectively. Bitch Slap actor Kevin Sorbo is in talks to return as well for what will more than likely be another fun and sexy trip to the well of titillating girls (Playboy model Andrea Lowell [pictured] and Sharktopus‘ Shandi Finnessey have already been cast), comedy and gore which they established in the predecessor (review to come soon to Dread Central).
“Chris and I have always envisioned the story of Watts and Lumpkin as a trilogy,” Jones told us of their intended franchise. “Bachelorette Party Massacre is just the natural extension of the mayhem that occurred in Sorority Party Massacre. Hopefully we can continue the story on to its conclusion.”
“These movies really are a labor of love for the both of us,” Jones continued. “They’re really fun shows that shouldn’t be taken too seriously but have enough action, horror and scares to satisfy the genre fan in all of us.”
With principal photography slated for fall of 2013 in Los Angeles, Ventura and Big Bear, CA (with an intended release in the spring of 2014), “The tone of BPM will be much in the same vein of SPM,” said Jones, “but with a bigger budget, larger action and more brutal kills.”
Logline:
Directly following the events of Sorority Party Massacre, Det. Watts is forced to head back into the treacherous, bizarre town of Grizzly Cove as he assists his boss, Capt. Dan Fanning (Kevin Sorbo), in hunting down the still alive killer of Capt. Fanning’s daughter, Holly.
Synopsis:
After barely surviving his confrontation with the deranged Sheriff Lumpkin (Ed O’Ross) and a gaggle of self-obsessed sorority girls, Det. William Watts is back in Los Angeles and on the job with the LAPD. His mentor and superior, Captain Fanning (Kevin Sorbo), has taken a leave of absence in his grief over the supposed death of his beloved daughter, Holly, at the hands of Lumpkin. Fanning refuses to believe that his daughter is truly gone since bodies were never found for either Lumpkin or Holly. Watts agrees to help Fanning search for Holly while assembling a team of LAPD colleagues and former Army buddies on a mission to find Holly and exact vengeance on Lumpkin.
In the nearby town of Leery across the lake from Grizzly Cove, a group of girls are embarking on a fun-filled booze cruise as part of a weekend of bachelorette antics. The girls are too impatient to wait for the boat’s captain and decide to take it out by themselves, getting lost and stumbling upon Grizzly Cove just as Watts and his team arrive by helicopter from Los Angeles. Watts is once again forced to protect a group of girls driven by their own agendas, but at least this time he has back-up. It is soon revealed that one of the bachelorettes has her own reasons to be in Grizzly Cove and find Lumpkin.
Old allies reappear (well… not quite allies), and new enemies emerge as the team of law enforcement officers is slowly picked off by an even more lethal Lumpkin. As the team gets smaller, Watts must once again face off man to man against Lumpkin in a fight that will test his every last once of strength and intelligence.
