This “Depressingly brutal” and “Intense as hell” Australian Horror Film Is Shocking Fans [Gallery]
Australian horror is a particular brand of nasty. Films like the 2005 Wolf Creek, Sean Byrne’s 2009 The Loved Ones, or the 2012 true crime film Snowtown prove that filmmakers down under aren’t afraid to tap into the deeply depraved parts of human nature. And Australians continue to deliver with the upcoming Beaten To Death from director Sam Curtain.
With a title like Beaten To Death, you can imagine what horrors await both viewers and characters alike. According to IMDb, the plot synopsis is as follows:
A desperate choice leads Jack down a path that leaves him beaten and bruised as he struggles against man, nature, and his own insanity.

The film recently saw its debut in Australia and reviews are slowly trickling in about this brutal new title. Lee Butler from Sodas and Telepaths said:
“Beaten to Death is a dark powerful horror film that will drag the audience through the dirt by their hair and kick you [sic] in the ribs just to make sure it does some damage, and it does it all exquisitely. It’s one of the more intense horror films out there and you will definitely feel the harshness of it overwhelming you, but it does all of it so well that it cannot be denied as a genuinely great bit of Aussie horror.”
That review alone makes me think that Beaten To Death will be the perfect watch for any lovers of extreme horror.
Thomas Roach stars in Beaten To Death as Jack, and according to early reviews, he dominates the screen for the film’s 90-minute duration. He is, well, beaten almost to death and we’re meant to endure and witness his seemingly nonstop suffering.
David Tracy and Nicole Tudor also star in the film.
Beaten To Death doesn’t have a release date yet. But, we’ll make sure to share it, along with any other updates, as we have them. So make sure you’re checking back to Dread Central.
