Lionsgate Makes a Date with The Quiet OnesLionsgate has nabbed the North American rights for the next chiller from Hammer, entitled The Quiet Ones, and they’ve already given it a release date! See how quickly things can move once they start cooking?

The Quiet Ones is inspired by true events and tells the story of an unorthodox but charismatic professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist from negative human energy. The film is written and directed by John Pogue (Quarantine 2) and produced by James Gay-Rees (Senna, Exit Through the Gift Shop), Exclusive Media’s Tobin Armbrust, and Simon Oakes along with Steven Chester Prince and Ben Holden in association with The Traveling Picture Show Company (TPSC).

Look for it in theatres on April 25, 2014.

Synopsis:
Starring Jared Harris (“Mad Men”, The Ward) and Sam Claflin (Snow White and the Huntsman, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) and directed by John Pogue, The Quiet Ones (inspired by true events) tells the story of an unorthodox professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist. Based on the theory that paranormal activity is caused by human negative energy, the rogue scientists perform a series of tests on a young patient, pushing her to the edge of sanity. As frightening occurrences begin to take place with shocking and gruesome consequences, the group quickly realizes they have triggered a force more terrifying than they ever could have imagined.

Other cast members include Erin Richards (“Breaking In”, “Being Human”), Olivia Cooke (“The Secret of Crickley Hall”, “The Fuse”), and West End theatre actor Rory Fleck-Byrne.

This week we chat with filmmaker, producer, composer, writer, author...this guy's done it all...John Harrison. From working with George Romero on everything from Creepshow and Dawn of the Dead to Tales from the Darkside to the Dune miniseries to his Netflix series Residue...he's done it all. He even directed Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, which was Andrew LaSane's Scarred for Life pick, which is one of Terry's favorite movies.
