Stephen King “Is A Fan” Of This Chilling “Nordic-Noir” Crime Series On Netflix
Horror hero and master of the Netflix recommendation, Stephen King, is back on the scene with some interesting insight. The legendary author is never shy to share what he’s into on streaming services, and today is no different.
Deadwind (also known as Karppi) is a Finnish ‘Nordic-noir’ series helmed by Rike Jokela. See what Stephen King thinks about the show below.
In Deadwind, just months after a tragic loss, detective Sofia Karppi investigates the murder of a woman with ties to a Helsinki construction company. The series stars Pihla Viitala, Lauri Tilkanen, Jani Volanen, and Tommi Korpela. Having kicked off its highly anticipated third season in October, Deadwind originally premiered back in 2018 on Finland’s Yle TV2.
In the series, Detective Karppi has been recently widowed and is caring for her two children on her own. Things become further complicated when her first case back at the office is about the murder of a prominent social affairs consultant named Nanna Bergdahl.
The show has been compared to other acclaimed noir crime projects like The Bridge and The Killing, two of Europe’s most successful drama exports. Not to mention, Stephen King seems to love it.
Netflix caught sight of Deadwind’s success in 2020 when it added the program to the streaming service. Since then, the show has seen a growing audience, including the Maine Man himself. Check out his thoughts here:
