Stephen King Calls This Netflix Film “A Well-Crafted Thriller”
Stephen King continues to do the Lord’s work by scoping out Netflix for the rest of us. This week Uncle Stephen is singing the praises of a mystery thriller crime drama with a hell of a cast. The movie Solace came out in 2015 but somehow flew under many people’s radar.
In the film, FBI Special Agent Joe Merriwether enlists the help of former colleague Dr. John Clancy, a retired physician with psychic powers, to solve a series of homicides.

Solace was directed by Afonso Poyart. The film was written by Sean Bailey and Ted Griffin. Its star-studded cast includes Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Abbie Cornish, Sharon Lawrence, Marley Shelton, and Colin Farrell.
Stephen King called Solace “a well-crafted thriller,” and praised Hopkins’ performance in a tweet he sent last week after watching it on Netflix. We all know Hopkins has been churning out brilliant performances since before most of us were alive. However, it is heartwarming to see other celebrities applaud his recent work.

I am happy Uncle Stephen brought this movie to my attention. As a child who grew up on Silence Of The Lambs, I have to see any film where Hopkins works with the FBI. While I doubt he will eat anyone in this film, he is playing a psychic, and I am sure it is a masterclass, as usual. If he does happen to eat someone though, that would be fine too. No pressure. I’m running to open my Netflix app either way.
