Horror Director Mike Flanagan Says This Scary Series Just Gave “One Of The Best Episodes Of Television” Ever
Mike Flanagan is very familiar with streaming horror shows. He managed to push out a streak of heavy hitters in recent years that include Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Hill House, and The Midnight Club. So when he tweets that something is the best episode of television he has ever seen…we assume he means it.
Like the rest of us, Flanagan has fallen in love with the runaway HBO hit The Last Of Us. While this show usually punches us in the feelings every week, this week’s episode left the internet crying.

The Last Of Us is based on a wildly popular video game franchise. In the show, after a global pandemic destroys civilization, a hardened survivor takes charge of a 14-year-old girl who may be humanity’s last hope. Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin created the series. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey lead the cast of this dramatic zombie fungus project.
The episode Mike Flanagan tweeted about saw The Last of Us take an … unexpected detour. We met Bill and Frank (played by Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett) and fall in love with them only to have their story leave us crying puddles.

While The Last Of Us strayed from its source material and the main duo of the show, the risk has paid off, and still has the internet in our feelings. It’s kind of nice to know we’re not all crying alone. We’re crying together, and Mike Flanagan has entered the group chat as well.
