The Best Horror Movies Streaming Now on Paramount+

Paramount+ is still giving us the genre goods this November. The streamer is adding classics like Pet Sematary, Pet Sematary II, and The Stepfather. They will also allow us to cry again if we want to rewatch Michael Sarnoski’s Pig. Like most apps, they are easing into the thriller season that typically follows Halloween. However, unlike many of the usual suspects, they have a better balance of horror and thrillers. This is why the streamer possibly has my favorite lineup this month. It is so refreshing to see so many of my twisted comfort movies in location. It is also a privilege to alert you that these 5 titles deserve your attention ASAP. Let us dig into the deadly goodies I have picked out below!

Identity (dir. James Mangold)
Ten strangers get stranded in an isolated Nevada hotel during a storm and find themselves being killed off one by one. This thriller imprinted on me as a child and is still one of my favorite comfort movies. I know it is imperfect, but I cannot care when it reset my brain and brought together an incredible cast. Any ensemble that includes John Cusack, Ray Liotta, Rebecca De Mornay, John C. McGinley, and Clea DuVall has to be the moment. I am here for the mystery, the deaths, the twists, and the soundtrack. I will definitely be revisiting this rainy chiller on Paramount+ this month.
The Long Kiss Goodnight (dir. Renny Harlin)
A woman with amnesia hires a private investigator to help her figure out who she is. However, a deadly threat arises alongside her memories and specific skillset that returns to her after eight years. This is my favorite movie Renny Harlin has ever worked on. It was also part of a series of 1900s movies that cemented that Geena Davis is a badass. Davis and Samuel L. Jackson remain one of my favorite surprise duos in the history of the subgenre. I will probably watch The Long Kiss Goodnight a few times this holiday season. After all, more women assassins are what I have been asking Santa for my whole life.
Tremors (dir. Ron Underwood)
A small town community finds themselves fending off giant creatures who live underground. This giant worm movie owns a piece of my heart, and I may never fully understand why. Could it be seeing Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward, Reba McEntire, and Michael Gross in the same movie? Is it because the 1990 vibes feel like a cozy blanket after a long day? Is it just that I love chaos, and these giant worms deliver plenty of it? Or is it some combination of all of the above? My money is on that last one because I got giddy when I saw this in Paramount+’s lineup this November. I did not know how much I needed to revisit Tremors until today, but the urge to hit play is now consuming my every waking thought.
Vacancy (dir. Nimród Antal)
A couple pulls into a seedy motel and finds themselves the subjects of a snuff film. I was super late to this movie, but it is a surprisingly strong entry in motel stays from hell. I plan to double-feature it with Identity while both are on Paramount+ at the same time this month. This baller cast includes Kate Beckinsale, Luke Wilson, Frank Whaley, and Ethan Embry. When I tell you Vacancy is possibly the most disturbing motel horror entry since Psycho, I am completely serious. After watching this movie, I can only stay in name-brand places and have to share my location with multiple friends. I did not understand what I was getting into when I hit play, and I have been changed for the paranoid.
What Lies Beneath (dir. Robert Zemeckis)
A woman suspects her lakeside home is haunted and tries to figure out why. This movie has it all! Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer are the leads. We have Miranda Otto before she aged into playing moms and aunts in the genre. The plot has murder, betrayal, a batshit chase, and even an angry ghost. However, my favorite piece of trivia about this film is that it was written by Clark Gregg. The guy that most of my generation knows from his appearances in the MCU wrote one of my favorite childhood thrillers. When I made that realization, it blew my mind. What Lies Beneath is always a damn good time, but it feels even more appropriate this time of year.
