Join Lloyd Kaufman At His Texas Troma Tour!

I’ve told you before that Lloyd Kaufman (and Troma) would be a familiar face in the Indie Spotlight. Today, I’ll prove that I’m not a liar!

As it turns out, Kaufman is taking a trip to my neck of the woods with his Texas Troma Tour

For those of you not in the know, Kaufman is the creator of Troma Entertainment, the studio that brought us such low-budget classics as The Toxic Avenger, Frostbiter: Wrath of the Wendigo, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, Terror Firmer and much, much, MUCH more. If you haven’t seen any of these flicks and want some good, clean, wholesome family fun, I highly recommend marathoning them all with little to no breaks in-between!

Joining Kaufman on his trip is the Texas-based film team Little Spark Films, who I’ve featured not once, but TWICE on the Spotlight. Several of their films are on the Troma NOW streaming service, so if you get the chance, check them out.

The events taking place on the tour sound like a helluva good time, including:

“The Texas Tour begins in Dallas on February 28 at 8:30 pm, with a screening of Troma classic Tromeo and Juliet, written by Head of DC Studios James Gunn. The screening will take place at the historic Texas Theatre, Dallas’s premiere arthouse/repertory theatre. Lloyd, The Toxic Avenger, and other Troma friends will be in attendance, with free autographs and photo ops all night long.”

“The following evening, on March 1 at 5:30 PM in Fort Worth, is Weird Wednesday, a monthly cult movie series and vendor marketplace held at Southside Preservation Hall. As the first of honor, Lloyd Kaufman introduces and conducts a Q&A for his classic film Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead.

Admission is “pay what you can”, with all donations going towards the Southside Preservation Hall and their goal of restoring the building. Need more info? Click here!

“March 2 Lloyd will be at the University of North Texas conducting an informative filmmaking master class to the film students there. This, unfortunately, is not a public event. But it’s worth mentioning because it speaks to Lloyd’s commitment to shepherd the next generation of filmmakers and pass down his many years of knowledge and wisdom.”

As they said, it’s not a public event, so you have to be not-public to attend it. Still neat, though!

Turns out, the public can attend! And it’s free!

“The evening of Friday, March 3 brings Lloyd and the Troma Team to Austin for a Tromatic Drag Tribute Show, featuring Bulimianne Rhapsody (star of Camp Wannakiki on OUTtv), Louisianna Purchase (star of The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula on Shudder), and many other Austin area drag and burlesque performers. All the performances will be Troma-themed, and the event is being DJed by Houston’s own PostModernSleaze. The event is at 11 pm on Friday, March 3 at Valhalla.”

Tickets, purchase, here!

“Saturday, March 4 at 7:30 PM Lloyd presents his most recent film, #ShakespearesShitstorm, at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. Lloyd introduces the film, conducts a post-movie Q&A, and is on hand for free autographs and photo ops all night.”

You want tickets? You got tickets!

“March 3-5 Lloyd attends the Cult Classic Convention in Bastrop, Texas, a three-day horror and cult movie convention in the Texas heartland. Lloyd will be on hand all three days for autographs and photo ops.”

Tickets? Say less!

All the information for the events are linked in their descriptions, and I hope a good bit of you have a chance to join in on the Tromatic festivities! Forty-nine years of Troma and still going strong, with no signs of slowing down. I wouldn’t want it any other way!

Until next time…

Ciao, friends!
