Ever since director Kevin Greutert pulled off the impossible by making the Saw franchise relevant again after a truly horrific fifth entry that everyone considered to be the franchise’s death knell, we’ve been curious to see what he’s gonna do next.
With Jessabelle in the pipeline word has come that Greutert’s next film will be called Visions, and it’s to be produced by horror film powerhouse Blumhouse Productions. Variety reports that Blumhouse bought Lucas Sussman’s spec script and is aiming for a fall start.
The story, said to be in the vein of The Others and What Lies Beneath, centers on a pregnant woman moving to the wine country to be with her husband at their vineyard — a move which triggers terrifying visions.
Blumhouse recently launched a foreign sales operation at Cannes, selling Sinister 2 and comedy thriller Stretch, to be directed by Joe Carnahan. Gruetert was the editor on the first five Saw films and directed the final two.
