Female killers are all over the news lately, and adding that to the public’s insatiable curiosity about whether Lizzie Borden really took an axe and gave her father 40 whacks, it’s no surprise a new biopic is on its way about the notorious Fall River, MA, resident.
Per the Wrap, Lifetime has signed Christina Ricci to star in its upcoming film about Borden, who was ultimately acquitted of killing her father and stepmother in the late 1800s. No writer has been selected yet, but Nick Gomez (Drowning Mona, “Burn Notice”) is directing with Sony Pictures Television producing. Judith Verno will executive produce.
A few years back HBO had a miniseries in the works about the Borden case starring Chloe Sevigny, but we haven’t heard much about it lately. We’ll keep our ears open for more on both of these projects and let you know which one will be hitting the airwaves first.
