Horror Director Mike Flanagan Calls This New Sci-Fi Thriller: “The very definition of a tour de force”

Filmmaker Mike Flanagan knows movies. So when the creator of Netflix’s The Haunting of Hill House tweets about a scary new film, lots of us are willing to listen. This is why we’re happy to see him giving some love to a sci-fi thriller that we’ve had our eye on for a couple of months.

The Doctor Sleep director had very high praise for the sci-fi thriller The Artifice Girl. He called it, “Exceptional, intricate, deeply thoughtful.” See his full thoughts below:

In the film, “a team of special agents discovers a revolutionary new computer program to bait and trap online predators. After teaming up with the program’s troubled developer, they soon find that the AI is rapidly advancing beyond its original purpose.”

The Artifice Girl was written and directed by Franklin Ritch. It stars Tatum Matthews, David Girard, Sinda Nichols, Franklin Ritch, and Lance Henriksen. The movie hit theaters and VOD on April 27th.

We love seeing quality sci-fi thrillers asking hard questions. We especially love to see them getting attention from other filmmakers who take to Twitter to gush about them.

The Artifice Girl is right up our alley. However, if a Lance Henriksen appearance and Mike Flanagan’s recommendation aren’t enough to tempt you to watch the movie, check out the trailer below.

Our Editior-In-Chief also interviewed Franklin Ritch and cast members Sinda Nichols, Tatum Matthews, and David Girard about tackling sensitive subject matter, the future of AI, and more.
