Mike Flanagan Casts Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill In His Next Stephen King Adaptation

Filmmaker Mike Flanagan has landed his next Stephen King adaptation. After bringing King’s Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep to the big screen, he’s now got his eye on The Life Of Chuck, according to Deadline.

The film will star Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill and is currently being prepped for the upcoming Cannes buyer’s market. Attaching Hamil and Hiddleston is one of the quickest ways to separate most of us from our money. We can only imagine there will be lots of interest.

The Life Of Chuck was one of the novellas in Stephen King’s 2020 anthology If It Bleeds. It follows Charles Krantz, who is dying of brain cancer at the age of 39. The story is told in reverse chronological order beginning with his death.

If It Bleeds is also the book which the 2020 film Mr. Harrigan’s Phone was pulled from.

According to Deadline, “The script, which was adapted prior to the WGA strike, has been in the works for several months with Hiddleston set to play the title character and Hamill joining for the role of Albie.

But don’t forget, Flanagan is also still working on adapting Stephen King’s The Dark Tower into a series, as well. So, if you are a fan of this duo’s collaborations, you have a few projects to look forward to.

Are you as excited to see Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamil on screen together as I am? Are you losing it over Mike Flanagan’s first feature since Doctor Sleep? Or, are you just happy to know the list of current Stephen King adaptations we can expect just got longer? Whatever you’re going feral for about the project, let’s talk about it at @misssharai.

Episode 266: Opus Writer/Director Mark Anthony Green and Michael Jackson's Thriller (1983)
This week we were unbelievably excited to chat with writer and director Mark Anthony Green! We talk about his feature film debut Opus, working with musical icons The-Dream and Nile Rodgers, Ayo Edebiri's star power and the eccentricities (and graciousness) of John Malkovich. Mark Anthony shares a fantastic story of John on set and so much more before we dig a bit into his horror history and find out why Michael Jackson's Thriller music video scared him as a kid. A shorter episode this week, but easily one of our favorite conversations in a long while. Don't miss it. And go see Opus in theaters!Follow Mary Beth, Terry and the Podcast on Bluesky. Ket tells Kim a movie that’s been on their list for a while and, to be clear, it does NOT star Brienne of Tarth.
