Exclusive ‘New Fears Eve’ Images Showcase The Practical Gore Effects From The Upcoming Slasher Movie
With the film now in post-production, producer and co-director P.J. Starks has provided Dread Central with a new batch of exclusive stills from New Fears Eve, an upcoming slasher he’s been working on for the last few months after running a successful crowdfunding campaign. You can view the images in the gallery below, and some of them look just as gruesome as you would expect. New Fears Eve will feature a massive amount of practical gore effects, so fans of old-school slasher movies should be satisfied.
Starks has produced a wide variety of other horror films over the years, with several of his previous projects including 10/31, Close Calls, 13 Slays Till Xmas, and the Volumes of Blood franchise. He provided us with the following exclusive statement about New Fears Eve, and it sounds like this could be his most ambitious film to date:
‘It’s hard to believe we’re nearing the end of production on New Fears Eve. Filming has been going extremely well. It’s not without its setbacks and stressors, of course. The weather caused delays and we had to replace an actor. Despite several hurdles, this has been a great time on set. Slashers are my favorite sub-genre and I’m so excited that we’re able to add to a long and varied catalog of body count flicks.
“Our goal from the beginning was to do something that’s fun and brutal but not a throwback because those have been done to death. We have a solid cast, an interesting story, enough dead bodies to keep gore hounds happy and a masked killer that’s pretty badass. I saw a meme earlier that called these types of films “blood and gore thrillers”, which I absolutely love and can’t wait for everyone to check out ours. I won’t say every horror fan will be happy, but I think there’s enough in our slasher to keep the masses entertained.“
Eric Huskisson is also co-directing New Fears Eve, making the film one of the countless projects on which he has collaborated with Starks. We were also provided with an exclusive statement from Huskisson, who clearly thinks horror fans will be in for a great time with New Fears Eve when it arrives on their screens in the near future.
Read Huskisson’s statement below:
“Minus some rescheduling issues due to weather and some unforeseen obstacles, production has gone great! Working with a new effects team and crew can bring some added stress to a project, but this crew has been phenomenal! They are making the project go so smoothly with their work ethic and expertise. It’s awesome to watch!! Speaking of effects, they look so good! Can’t wait for audiences to see what they’ve helped us put together.“
New Fears Eve introduces a new horror icon known as The Doctor, who embarks on a bloody killing spree throughout the city of Owensboro in Kentucky. After setting his murderous sights on the annual New Year’s Eve party at Hooper Industries (a clear nod to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise), The Doctor ensures that the partygoers will be in for a night they will truly never forget.
Felissa Rose, Dave Sheridan, Hannah Fierman, Lily-Claire Harvey, Sonya Delormier, and Alyssa Rhoads star in the film, with Jesse MacDonald playing The Doctor.
A release date has yet to be confirmed. But, we’ll be keeping a close eye on New Fears Eve over the coming months.
