The Best Horror Movies Now Streaming On Redbox

Last Updated: June 5, 2024

Call the authorities because Redbox is plotting to steal hours of my life this June. The free streamer is turning up the heat by adding a few movies I really love, and I cannot wait to make people watch. These thirteen titles joining their ridiculously impressive horror library might also rob you of a couple of days. So, read the five movies I am the most excited to check out below. However, make sure that you stay vigilant in these streaming streets because this app is a time bandit.

The 4th Floor

A woman discovers that her rent-controlled apartment comes with a demented neighbor. I ran across this 90s gem a few years back and have been lowkey obsessed with it ever since. Not only is this an entertaining entry into the “Please move immediately” category, but it also has an amazing cast. Where else can you see Juliette Lewis, William Hurt, and Shelley Duvall in the same thriller? Highly recommend making it part of a day of movies where apartments are too good to be true. I sincerely believe this movie crawled so that 1BR could run.

The Closet

A man turns to an exorcist for help after his daughter vanishes. I ran across this title a few years ago and cannot stop recommending it to people. It quickly became one of my favorite movies I stumbled across while seeking out more South Korean titles. If you love Korean cinema and exorcism movies or want to be punched in the heart a little, look no further. Also, these exorcisms are drastically different from the ones I grew up watching. I lived and am so happy more people will get to check it out while it is streaming on Redbox.

The Harrow

A drifter hiding in an abandoned slaughterhouse has visions of his former flame. When the daughter of his dead ex shows up, they uncover a horrifying secret. I don’t actually know this movie, but she feels summer-appropriate. I plan to open a cold beer and watch these two get to the bottom of this mystery. I also expect some of these meat hooks and other slaughterhouse gadgets to do some damage. What more could I ask for during Redbox summer? Bring on the carnage because I am in my violent era.

The Reunion

A pregnant woman spends time with her estranged mother at the home of her deceased grandparent. However, the reunion quickly takes a turn for the worse. To be completely transparent, I am here because Julia Ormond is here. As a 90s kid, she usually did romance and dramas. So, I am always happy to see her in the correct genre, and I cannot wait to hit play on this.

Vanishing on 7th Street

People are disappearing in Detroit, and the remaining few must figure out how to keep the Dark from consuming the last of them. This is giving big 90s NBC sci-fi vibes, and that is one of my secret favorite things. It is even extra special because this movie was released in 2010. So, I assume the filmmaker knows how important it is to not lose that post-apocalyptic made-for-TV energy. It also does not hurt that the cast includes  Hayden Christensen, Thandiwe Newton, and John Leguizamo. My body is ready for this chaos.

If you are unfamiliar with Redbox, it is an app you should download on all your smart devices. Or you can head to the website if you would prefer to stream movies on your computer. These recent additions to their library are only a few of the horrific goodies awaiting you on the streamer.

Let me know if we have our eye on the same titles hitting Redbox this month at @misssharai.  Or let me know if you are excited about different movies on the list that I should add to my viewing plans.
