Exclusive Images from Upcoming ‘Spider Baby’ Remake

Spider Baby

I told you I’d keep you updated on it, Blood Babes! The “it” in question being the upcoming Spider Baby remake, helmed by indie B-movie mogul Dustin Ferguson (Hell of the Screaming Dead, Beyond the Gates of Hell). Now we have a SLEW of new info regarding the flick.

Fut before we gorge on those guts, let’s get a refresher on what the original flick was all about:

“Chauffeur Bruno (Lon Chaney Jr.) looks after three strange siblings at their family estate. Ralph (Sid Haig), Virginia (Jill Banner) and Elizabeth (Beverly Washburn) all suffer from an inherited condition: a genetic disorder that causes a reversal in mental age and results in a crazed, childlike disposition. Because of his affection for the family, Bruno covers up the siblings’ bizarre behavior and crimes. But, when relatives arrive at the family estate, the truth is bound to come out.”

Now that we’re all on the same page, let’s hear what’s new about the production. Along with these exclusive stills peppered throughout this article, we’ve been told the original film’s director, Jack Hill, is an executive producer on the flick.

The feature stars Brinke Stevens (The Slumber Party Massacre, Beyond the Gates of Hell), Ron Chaney (Lon Chaney Jr.’s grandson, who I interviewed earlier this year), and Beverly Washburn (“Elizabeth” in the original Spider Baby). Jeff Burr—director of such CLASSICS of my childhood as Puppet Master 4, Night of the Scarecrow, and Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3—served as the film’s creative consultant, while Juli Hapney (V/H/S Viral, Joe Bob’s Haunted Drive-In) handled the special FX.

You astute readers might’ve noticed I’ve been using a lot of past tense on that last bit. There’s a reason for that. The film’s already done filming! That’s right, it’s being edited as we speak, with a trailer dropping next week. Not only that, but a poster created by Sadist Arts Designs is expected to be finished this August.

The Spider Baby remake will have a Los Angeles film premiere this October, followed by a limited theatrical run.

Damn, isn’t this exciting? I can’t wait to see Ferguson’s take on the “maddest story ever told”! As always, I’ll keep you posted when I hear more.

Until next time…

Ciao, friends!
