Get Your First Look At The Stunning FrightFest 2023 Poster
With FrightFest 2023 just around the corner, we got our first look at the incredible new poster for the highly-anticipated horror festival. The poster was designed by legendary horror artist Graham Humphreys, who has been illustrating FrightFest posters since the festival began over two decades ago.
Fans will be thrilled to see that the signature green monster, which has been featured on almost all of Graham’s FrightFest posters, once again makes a comeback. This time, the monster is dressed as Herbert West from the Re-Animator franchise, with a particularly nasty-looking syringe in his hand. A number of other familiar mad scientists from horror history also appear on the poster, including Hannibal Lecter, Doctor Frankenstein, Fu Manchu, and Anton Phibes.
FrightFest’s PR department also provided us with the following quote from Humphreys about his poster for this year’s event, which will be themed around mad doctors and scientists. Humphreys was quoted as saying the following:
“This year’s FrightFest poster shares its theme with the annual FrightFest book, exploring the subject of Mad Doctors. Once again, my artwork needed to be built in multiple parts that could be dismantled and rearranged across different formats, allowing individual elements to work on their own. Re-Animator’s Herbert West is clearly referenced by the FrightFest ghoul. He is surrounded by a series of classic ‘mad doctors’ in film. Unsurprisingly, they are all men!”
While there is currently no word on which films will be screened at FrightFest this year, the full lineup will be announced on July 13. It was also recently announced that FrightFest 2023’s Short Film Showcase will be sponsored by CenterFrame. The festival will run from August 24 to August 28 at the gigantic Cineworld in Leicester Square. Tickets will go on sale in the near future.
