The Best Horror Movies Streaming Now on Paramount+

Last updated: April 7, 2025

Paramount+ has assembled another eclectic programming that we need to discuss immediately. The streamer is serving disaster movies like Arrival and Deep Impact. The app is also offering nostalgic horror titles like The Ring, The Ring Two, and Rings. While all that is fun, I found a more chaotic lineup that touches on the best movies coming to the app this month. The five titles that jumped out at me could not be more different. However, I think watching them during the same weekend might be what the doctor ordered. So, without further adieu, I present the five genre movies we should all hit play on this April.

Check out which five titles have my attention this April.

April Fool’s Day (dir. Fred Walton)

A group of college students head to a rich friend’s remote island for April Fool’s Day. However, the pranks soon lead to a stack of bodies, and guests begin to realize nothing is as it seems. I love 80s slashers, so I am a little biased when I tell you this is one of the titles I am most excited to see hit Paramount+ this month. April Fool’s Day might be the most fun we are going to have this April. Come to meet Muffy and Buffy St. John, but stay for the chaos. This movie should be required viewing for anyone with a fondness for holiday horror and 80s mysteries.

I See You (dir. Adam Randall)

A police officer investigates the case of a missing boy that is very similar to a previous series of kidnappings. I appreciate that the officer is in a rocky marriage and has a son (who is acting out) to give this story texture. However, I think most people lose their minds over this movie because of the sheer audacity of the twist. If you have missed I See You on the other apps, this April might be the perfect time to check out this thriller. For extra razzle-dazzle, it stars Helen Hunt, who many genre fans haven’t seen since Twister. So, there is that on top of the mystery surrounding this small family that you have to see to believe.

Paranormal Activity (dir. Oren Peli)

A couple moves into a suburban home and finds themselves tormented by a demonic entity. I was late to the Paranormal Activity party. However, I am now one of its loudest supporters. It has become one of my favorite horror franchises. It is also the reason I started giving found footage films more attention. It’s creepy and chaotic and actually has a few thrills. So, I plan to watch this with the lights off to feel alive again while it’s on the streamer. I’m really grateful Paramount+ is allowing me to terrorize my friends one more time. I hope you also take advantage of the nightmarish beginnings of one of my favorite demonic-found footage series.

Point Break (dir. Kathryn Bigelow)

An undercover FBI agent gets too attached to the gang of bank-robbing surfers he’s investigating. I’m a 90s kid, so I love Keanu Reeves and adored the late Patrick Swayze. Only they could sell me a movie with the premise of a surfer gang committing heists to the judgmental little kid I used to be. However, as an adult, Point Break earns even more cool points because it was directed by Kathryn Bigelow. So, for all three of them (and the painfully 90s supporting cast I also get a kick out of), I plan to revisit this movie while it’s on Paramount+ this month. I cannot wait to see how I feel about Point Break all these years later.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day (dir. James Cameron)

A cyborg identical to the one that previously tried to kill Sarah Connor is now the only thing stopping a more advanced cyborg from killing her and her son. Very few sequels are as good as their predecessors. Terminator 2: Judgement Day is easily one of those few titles and one of the better movies in this fractured franchise. It sees Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton reunite as their characters are finally on the same side of the ultimate technology war. It also is the movie that officially made Hamilton an action star in addition to the final lady of this universe. More importantly, the cast has Robert Patrick and Joe Morton, so how can you go wrong? I cannot wait to dive into this again and see how the special effects that blew my mind as a kid are holding up.

Kim and Ket Stay Alive... Maybe
Ep. 347 Smile 2: “The Tale of Schmorgashbords, Part 1”
Ket tells Kim about the highly requested and truly terrifying Smile 2. This left Ketryn truly shooketh and gave The Substance a run for its money in grotesque-ness. It was simply a smorgasbord of gore and the first time in podcast history that Ket is the one who can’t quite say a word. Stay tuned for part 2 to find out what type of pants Kim needs for this one.Writer/Dir.
