13 Excellent Keanu Reeves Thrillers Available To Stream Online
Keanu Reeves has been a national treasure since long before I was born. Any time this handsome, charismatic, and talented man graces a screen, it feels like the universe’s way of apologizing for all of its male-specific mistakes. It’s like the powers that be are saying, “Enjoy this thriller and remember, we got one right!”
Luckily for us genre nerds, Reeves spends tons of time in our lane. His IMDb page claims he has 112 credits, but it feels like he’s been in at least 300 action-thriller-sci-fi combos alone. As a 90s kid, it’s hard to imagine the genre umbrella without this legend playing hopscotch in each subgenre.
I have childhood memories of him being a menace in The Watcher (2000) and seeing him battle Al Pacino in The Devil’s Advocate (1997). Sadly, neither movie I mentioned nor the John Wick series are currently streaming for free. However, this icon still has a huge number of films on the usual suspects. Call out of work and go on an excellent adventure with me instead.
A Scanner Darkly (2006)
Where You Can Watch: The Roku Channel and Tubi
This animated psychological sci-fi thriller is definitely outside of the box. It’s a trippy film that is hard to describe. She’s a mind-blowing journey that is anchored by the animated version of Keanu Reeves we meet along the way.

Chain Reaction (1996)
Where You Can Watch: Tubi
Keanu plays half a duo that stops researching green alternatives and goes on the run after being framed for murder. I don’t pretend to understand science, but I do understand the appeal of a movie where Reeves and Rachel Weisz play characters that know what they’re talking about.
Constantine (2005)
Where You Can Watch: Max
This superhero, horror, fantasy, action situation was one of my favorite things when it came out. Constantine is why I started reading graphic novels because I refused to miss out on anything this cool ever again. My apologies to everyone else who has played, and will play, John Constantine but Keanu won.
The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)
Where You Can Watch: Hulu and Prime Video
This remake of the 1951 classic sees our favorite Reeves as an Alien, with a giant robot for a sidekick. Simply typing that warms my heart and makes my day a little better. Go support Alien Keanu in his galactic endeavors right now.
Exposed (2016)
Where You Can Watch: PlutoTV, Redbox, and Vudu
The Reevester plays a detective investigating the death of his partner that gets led into a world of corruption. One of my favorite subgenres is Keanu in a trench coat looking into shady police. So, I’ll be watching this when you read this.
The Gift (2000)
Where You Can Watch: Paramount+ and Prime Video
I rented this movie as a kid before I was old enough to understand the Sam Raimi aesthetic. However, I remember the cast list, the woman in the tree, and a fortune teller trying to find a missing woman. I owe this a rewatch now that I’m supposedly an adult.
Johnny Mnemonic
Where You Can Watch: Hulu
Keanu plays a person carrying data in his head that people will kill to get their hands on. I saw this as a child, and it blew my mind. I am happy Hulu is letting me have it again because I need to know if it holds up to my memories.
The Matrix Franchise
Where You Can Watch: Max
If you have not seen the four movies that make up The Matrix franchise, then what are you doing? The Wachowski sisters reset nerd culture with this series. It’s arguably one of the coolest projects on Keanu’s resume, and that says a lot.
Point Break (1991)
Where You Can Watch: Plex, PlutoTV, The Roku Channel, and Tubi
We all remember watching Johnny Utah infiltrate a gang of bank-robbing surfers, right? The movie is also directed by Kathryn Bigelow and stars the late Patrick Swayze as one of the surfer dudes.
River’s Edge (1986)
Where You Can Watch: Prime Video
This movie is about a group of teens dealing with a friend who recently murdered his girlfriend. This might be the most disturbing movie on the list. It also came out when Keanu Reeves was 22, so you can put it side by side with his recent stuff and see how slowly he’s aging.
Siberia (2018)
Where You Can Watch: Hulu, Prime Video, PlutoTV, and Tubi
A diamond trader goes to Siberia to find his missing partner and ends up in a romantic entanglement. If seeing Keanu get sidetracked for romance isn’t enough to make you hit play on this thriller, Molly Ringwald is also in the cast.
Speed (1994)
Where You Can Watch: Hulu and Tubi
Keanu is a cop again. However, this time he’s trying to stop a bus from exploding. He also accidentally falls for Sandra Bullock’s character while saving all these lives because all of Reeves’ characters are excellent at multitasking. Plus, who isn’t in love with him before, during, and after a harrowing ordeal?
Street Kings (2008)
Where You Can Watch: Tubi
Tom Ludlow is a Keanu Reeves character bingo card waiting to happen. He’s an alcoholic undercover cop, widowed, and newly framed for another cop’s murder. There’s a lot to unpack here, but I have beef with my supposed friends who tried to hide this Keanu Reeves and Chris Evans moment from me. Please step outside so I can throw hands.
If anyone needs me, I’ll be rewatching these movies while waiting for the day I can meet Keanu Reeves in person. It has been my life’s mission to be on the list of people he’s not touching in photos. Hopefully, a friend will be there to help prop me up when I faint in front of this supposedly 58-year-old gift to the world.
Is your favorite Keanu Reeves movie on the list? Do you still revert to a tween when he pops up on your timeline? Then we should talk about it @Misssharai.
