Jennifer Reeder’s new coming-of-age, feminist horror-noir feature is completing its festival run and coming to screens near all of us soon. Perpetrator will open in select theaters and begin streaming on Shudder on September 1. Here is everything we know about this fresh and feral horror movie.

Official Synopsis

Jonny Baptiste (Kiah McKirnan) is a reckless teen sent to live with her estranged Aunt Hildie (Alicia Silverstone). On her 18th birthday, she experiences a radical metamorphosis: a family spell that redefines her called Forevering. When several teen girls go missing at her new school, a mythically feral Jonny goes after the Perpetrator.

Perpetrator was written and directed by Jennifer Reeder (Knives and Skin). The film stars Kiah McKirnan (Mare of Easttown, Night Sky), Melanie Liburd (Power Book IIthe upcoming Bad Boys 4), Christopher Lowell (Promising Young WomanHow I Met Your Father), and Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, The Killing of a Sacred Deer).

Jennifer Reeder is an award-winning filmmaker whose, “narratives are innovative and borrow from a range of forms including after-school specials, amateur music videos, and magical realism.” So we cannot wait to see what goes on in this film.
