The Will Smith Netflix Thriller That Broke Streaming Records Deserves A Rewatch
My generation grew up watching Will Smith battle aliens. So, of course, we’re looking at these movies after recent events. This is why Netflix’s Bright is at the forefront of the movies I will be hitting play on this week. The film is one of the streamer’s most successful projects thus far. It found a very vocal fan base when it premiered. Let’s get to know it a bit better.
Rotten Tomatoes Synopsis
“In an alternate present day, humans, orcs, elves, and fairies have been coexisting since the beginning of time. Two police officers, one a human, the other an orc, embark on a routine night patrol that will alter the future of their world as they know it. Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a young female elf and a thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which, in the wrong hands, could destroy everything.”

Bright was directed by David Ayer. It was written by Max Landis. The movie stars Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, and Veronica Ngo.
Many fans are trying to figure out why critics hated this movie so much. Others are just here for another Will Smith alien adventure and are upset that the plans for a sequel fell through. However, everyone is here for the themes the movie presents.

I’ve been meaning to watch this one since it premiered in 2017 so am moving it up my list as I write this. After all, we’re living in the Willennium now. This is the Wild Wild West, and if aliens exist, we should probably be taking notes on Independence Day and a few other Will Smith gems.
