‘RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop’ Exclusive Clip: How Did The Public React To The Film’s Release?
In 1987, Paul Verhoeven’s dystopic action-horror-dark-comedy RoboCop burst into public consciousness. The ultra-violent look at the consequences of privatizing the police force inspired a franchise, an animated series, countless toys, and more. Now, Screambox is giving us an extensive look at the making of the iconic film in their four-part docuseries RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop. The first episode premiered on August 29, with the series finale streaming tomorrow, September 19, exclusively on Screambox.

The final episode of the docu-series, titled “Murphy & The Machine”, looks at Robocop‘s legacy on popular culture and the effects the film had on its cast and crew. In our exclusive clip, get a sneak peek at how the film was received upon its initial release.

RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop is co-directed by Chris Griffiths and Eastwood Allen and produced by Gary Smart. The trio previously collaborated on Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story, Pennywise: The Story of IT, and You’re So Cool, Brewster: The Story of Fright Night.
“We’ve crafted something together to incorporate visuals and sound in an effort to immerse viewers into the world of ’80s filmmaking and offer something completely unique to the ‘making of’ format,” explains Allen.
“As a fan of RoboCop for the past 30 years, this project has been a labor of love for me, and I can’t wait to share this unique project with the fans, especially those who have stood by us all these years,” adds Griffiths.
