Guillermo del Toro Raves Over New Hulu Thriller: “I couldn’t think of a more perfect movie”
This past weekend, Brian Duffield’s (Underwater, Spontaneous) No One Will Save You arrived on Hulu, sending the internet into a tizzy. Now this was an alien invasion movie worth getting excited for, and from my own personal perspective, it’s the most relentless creature feature I’ve seen since 2018’s A Quiet Place. Your friends have loved it, your mom has probably loved it, and even Master of Horror Stephen King has called it “Brilliant, daring, involving, scary.”Now, Oscar winner and horror favorite Guillermo del Toro has also taken to Twitter rave about the film.
He not only “had a blast with the film,” but also described it as the “perfect movie for your weekend.” Check out what Guillermo del Toro had to say below:
Beyond simply raving, lover of cinema Guillermo del Toro has also expounded on No One Will Save You’s noteworthy lack of dialogue, comparing it to the likes of All is Lost and The Thief, among others. He contends that No One Will Save You pulls off the concept incredibly well.

Now, you must be thinking; surely that’s it? Wrong. That is not and never has been it for one of the genre’s greatest champions. Not only is Guillermo del Toro’s work legendary, but he remains more committed than most when it comes to elevating and championing voices in the genre. A few days after release, del Toro crafted a must-read thread on the use of Catholic dogma found within No One Will Save You, highlighting how Duffield expertly manages to pull it off.
Check that out here:
He notes how “The film is about soul reparation, yes- but then it telescopes to other levels” while comparing the subtext’s use to the classic work of Alfred Hitchcock. He concludes his thread by noting that “Sunday school was never this fun.” As a Sunday school graduate myself, I couldn’t agree more.
