Fans Love The #1 Netflix Thriller: “We need to talk about this movie”

Fair Play Netflix

Sundance breakout hit Fair Play, a tense, hyperventilate-into-a-bag thriller from writer/director Chloe Domont in her feature debut, is presently the number one movie on Netflix. An agonizingly expensive bidding war at the festival ended with Netflix shelling out $20 million for the distribution rights, and with Fair Play’s fair place at the top of the charts, it looks to be money well spent.

Check out the trailer and synopsis below:

Per Netflix: An unexpected promotion at a cutthroat hedge fund pushes a couple’s romance to the brink, threatening to unravel far more than their recent engagement.

Phoebe Dynevor, Alden Ehrenreich, and Eddie Marsan star in the most interesting (and terrifying) movie you’ll see about finance all year. While Dread Central didn’t have a formal review from this year’s Sundance Film Festival, it was undoubtedly a favorite among writers in attendance. Breathlessly tense, superbly acted, and increasingly unpredictable, it was a remarkable return to form for high-concept thrillers with something to say.

And, luckily, we’re not the only ones obsessed with Fair Play’s agonizing suspense. Viewers have been lapping it up on Netflix since the weekend.

Check out what they’ve been saying online below:

I’d have also put his head through the wall. Fans have been terrified by the pitch-perfect relationship dynamics, adroitly (and heartbreakingly) drawing parallels to the inequity they’ve experienced in their own lives. No doubt, Fair Play will continue to inspire conversation as it’s shaping up to be one of Netflix’s strongest showings this year. It’s exactly the kind of content Netflix excels at. As the streaming wars look more and more precarious with each passing day, Fair Play’s success might be worth paying attention to.
