I love this time of year. Halloween season is in full swing. The month of October finds the mainstream crowd taking an active interest in the macabre. And that is more than apparent when scoping what’s charting on Disney+!

Five familiar favorites have landed in the top ten as of October 10th. If you’re still mapping out your streaming lineup for the weeks ahead, each of these five films should be on your radar. Read on to find out which horror-infused offerings are resonating with Disney+ viewers right now!

The Haunted Mansion

I have yet to check this theme park ride tie-in out. But it’s on my list for this month!

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Chart position: #3

Who doesn’t love this iconic blend of Halloween and Christmas? It’s a seasonal staple.

Hocus Pocus

Chart position: #4

This bewitching affair enchanted an entire generation of ‘90s kids!

Chart Position: #5

The long-awaited sequel took years to make its way out of development hell. But fans think it was worth the wait!

Halloweentown

Chart Position: #9

‘90s kids that grew up with this Disney Channel original have been revisiting this nostalgic fave, driving it up the Disney+ charts.

Per IMDb: “When a young girl living with her secret witch mother learns she too is a witch, she must help her witch grandmother save Halloweentown from evil forces.”

From working with George Romero on everything from Creepshow and Dawn of the Dead to Tales from the Darkside to the Dune miniseries to his Netflix series Residue...he's done it all. He even directed Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, which was Andrew LaSane's Scarred for Life pick, which is one of Terry's favorite movies. We chat about his long history in cinema; about how he started working with Romero to some insights into Tales from the Darkside. And we discuss his latest work, the novel Residue: Paramentals Rising, which is a sequel to the Netflix show. After learning about his horror history--including a memorable viewing of Night of the Living Dead--we find out why The Haunting terrified him as a twelve year old.
