Director Gives Update On Strange Stephen King Adaptation: “Creatures that are eating the time left behind”
It seems director Rob Savage has his eye on another Stephen King adaptation now that The Boogeyman is in the rearview mirror. He told ComicBook.com that he’s hopeful things will work out so he can take a crack at The Langoliers.

“We’ve got such a great idea for developing that one out from the short story. Of all the ones in King’s work that have been adapted, I don’t think it’s ever been done justice to. It plays with ideas that I’ve never seen explored in a horror movie. The idea of time, and decaying time, and these creatures that are eating the time left behind — there’s such a great, cosmic horror movie to be made there that lends itself so well to film. Film is all about stretching and compressing time, and you can do so many great, playful things in that space that go beyond what’s there in the novella. I’m so excited about that one. I think that one stands a good shot of happening.” – ComicBook.com

The Langoliers was adapted for television and directed by Tom Holland. It was based on the Stephen King short story of the same name. It starred Patricia Wettig, Dean Stockwell, David Morse, Mark Lindsay Chapman, Frankie Faison, Baxter Harris, and Kimber Riddle.
The story follows ten passengers on a red-eye flight who discover they’re the last people on the planet after an emergency landing. It has a runtime of three hours and was panned by critics when it premiered in 1995.

The biggest hurdle for this remake seems to be attaining the rights to the title. Savage told ComicBook.com, “There’s a bit of naughtiness when it comes to the rights, but I think hopefully we’ll be able to sort it out.”
