Netflix Horror — #1 Scary Movie Streaming Is a Ghoulish “Must watch”

Look Away, a supernatural horror movie, is making its way up the Netflix charts this week. Subscribers seem to be having a good time with the film, labeling the picture “a must see”.

With that said, it’s worth mentioning that some Netflix users have found certain narrative elements to be unpleasant, warning prospective viewers that Look Away has the potential to be a“triggering” viewing experience.

As of October 17, Look Away sits as the number one horror movie on the platform. Overall, the picture claims ninth place on the U.S. Netflix charts.

Though the film hasn’t exactly been a critical darling (sitting at just 17% ‘fresh’ on aggregate film review site Rotten Tomatoes), Netflix subscribers are still finding plenty to enjoy about the flick.

Some fans have taken to social media to praise Look Away for its use of a mirror as an effective narrative device, while others report that the film had them screaming.

Some of the film’s cast may be unfamiliar to Netflix subscribers but there are at least two recognizable names attached to the picture. Viewers are likely to recognize Mira Sorvino in her turn as Amy and character actor Jason Isaacs, who plays Dan in the film.

The rest of the cast includes India Eisley (as lead character, Maria), Penelope Mitchell (as Lily), and John C. MacDonald (as Mark).

While the film did not play U.S. theaters upon its 2018 release, the picture was exhibited theatrically overseas, bringing in a grand total of $1,119,537.

The flick was both written and directed by Assaf Bernstein.

Synopsis via IMDb: Maria, a lonely 18-year-old high school student, opens up to her reflection because of the lack of support she has from family and her peers. She switches place with her supportive, but evil, twin that she discovers in the mirror’s reflection, but the newfound freedom unleashes suppressed feelings.
