#SDCC 2013: What to Expect from Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead Season 2

It’s a fun one, kids. While at Comic-Con, Telltale held a panel discussing the future of Season 2 of their hit episodic game The Walking Dead. Of course we were in attendance since DC has the magically ability to be in 1,000 places at once, so read on for the lowdown.
Building on what seems to be a (welcome) pattern in games, choices you’ve made in Season 1 and the recently released 400 Days DLC will have somewhat of an impact on Season 2 (via your file save transfer), as Telltale’s president Kevin Bruner confirms that some of these choices will import from Season 1 to Season 2. I realize 400 Days is somewhat of a standalone DLC, but the fact that your gameplay in that DLC WILL have an impact is pretty fucking sweet.
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman was on hand and said he’s in the process of figuring out who (and IF anyone) from the comic books will cameo in Season 2.
Clementine WILL return to Season 2 (whaaaaaa?); and after the devs said that they were THIS close to adding “I love you” as a dialogue choice in the final words between Lee and Clementine (*sniff*) but nixed it because they felt it would cause a distracting course change, AND Kenny’s fate “will be explored” [that INCLUDED a teaser shot of (possibly) Clementine sitting next to another kid in the rain], I’m becoming curiouser and curiouser by the SECOND.
If you missed the panel, don’t panic. PlayStation was kind enough to put together some highlights for you… of course there’s a push about Season 1 (with 400 Days DLC) coming to Vita on August 20th.
Bonus round: see if you can spot Dave Fennoy (a.k.a. Lee)!
The drop date has yet to be announced BUT we’re looking at a fall 2013 date… they wouldn’t say whether or not it’ll pop on next year’s PS4 but they (and Xbox One) would be absolute dummies not to. One thing we DO know is that Season 2 WILL hit Vita alongside the platform release… so good news for you handhelds!
Until then, re-familiarize yourselves with these ingenious teasers Telltale uploaded to their official Vine and stock up on supplies because fall ain’t that far away…
…and if Season 2’s as epic as its predecessor, bring tissue.
