Now Streaming: Fans React To One Of The “Meanest, shocking and most messed up horror movies of the year”
When Evil Lurks, one of the year’s scariest movies (if not the scariest), has finally hit Shudder today after a short theatrical release earlier this month. Demián Rugna’s (Terrified) possession shocker follows a pair of brothers, Pedro (Ezequiel Rodriguez) and Jimmy (Demián Salomon), as they endeavor to escape a burgeoning “Rotten” outbreak in their small Argentinean town.
If it sounds conventional, I promise it’s anything but regularly subverting violent expectations with violent, terrifying aplomb. Now, one of the year’s most-anticipated horror titles is finally available to stream on Shudder. Just make sure to watch it away from your dogs. Check out the trailer and synopsis below:
From Shudder: When brothers Pedro and Jimmy discover that a demonic infection has been festering in a nearby farmhouse, they attempt to evict the victim from their land. Failing to adhere to the proper rites of exorcism, their reckless actions trigger an epidemic of possessions across their rural community. Now they must outrun an encroaching evil as it corrupts and mutilates everyone it is exposed to, and enlist the aid of a wizened “cleaner,” who holds the only tools that can stop this supernatural plague.
In our review of When Evil Lurks, Josh Korngut called the “disturbing waltz of brutality and madness” a “welcome scream-at-the-screen addition to the extreme horror canon.” He’s right. When Evil Lurks is remarkably, uncomfortably tense, and more than once, it’ll have you gripping your armrests, screaming as Rugna continues to assault the audience with some of the year’s most shocking scares.
Horror fans are thrilled to have the chance to finally check out When Evil Lurks. Expectedly, they’ve taken to Twitter to share their glee that the year’s scariest movie is finally available to stream online.
See what they’ve had to say below:
There’s not a single perspective here I disagree with. When Evil Lurks really is evil, terrifying stuff. If you haven’t had the chance to catch it yet, now’s your chance. Just be ready.
