Many viewers are justifiably disturbed by the series. Others are admitting that while they cannot stop watching true-crime shows, they have complicated feelings about convicted killers getting to tell their stories.

As a huge true crime fan, I have to strongly recommend Evil Lives Here: The Killer Speaks on HBO Max.

They interview victims, tell the story, but also interview the killers in prison and get their side of the story.

I feel the same way. I really like “evil lives here” series but “the killer speaks” doesn’t hold my attention across season. Also, I don’t think convicted killers deserve camera time (exceptions for wrongfully convicted but these killers are NOT that).

Evil Lives Here: The Killer Speaks is the second spin-off series from Evil Lives Here. Each episode airs on Discovery Plus before appearing on Max. This season will consist of six episodes, with the final one dropping next week.

I’m not a fan of true crime, but I do think there is a conversation to be had about whether convicted killers should be getting fifteen minutes of fame. I’d also like to hear more from people who do enjoy this subgenre on why some of them draw the line at interviewing the culprits as well.
