‘Suitable Flesh’ Interview: Heather Graham, Barbara Crampton, Joe Lynch, Judah Lewis, [Video]
I had the chance to sit down for a video interview with the director and cast of Suitable Flesh, one of the wildest new releases this fall. I’m speaking with Heather Graham (From Hell), Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator), Judah Lewis (The Babysitter), Johnathon Schaech (Hush), and the film’s director Joe Lynch (Mayhem). Crampton also serves as a producer on the project.
Written by the iconic Dennis Paoli, the movie is a contemporary adaption of the H.P. Lovecraft story “The Thing On The Doorstep.” Lynch and Paoli together take the source material and make something sexy, raunchy, and disgusting that would make Lovecraft roll in his grave. And yes, that is a good thing.
In the film, psychiatrist Elizabeth Derby (Heather Graham) becomes obsessed with helping a young patient (Judah Lewis) suffering from extreme personality disorder. But it leads her into dark occult danger as she tries to escape a horrific fate.

I had the chance to review the title out of its Tribeca Film Festival world premiere in June. Here’s part of what I had to say:
“Suitable Flesh feels like a horror film for horror fans and even horror filmmakers, for that matter. It’s wacky, gory, and even a touch politically incorrect when it suits the story. At its core, this is a body-swap adventure. Even with the added layer of an unknowable Lovecraftian force acting as the agent of chaos, the setup is fairly simple and equally familiar. What sets it apart is its willingness to go the extra mile into bizarre, sticky, and completely uncomfortable territory.”

Suitable Flesh is now playing in theaters and available On Demand.
