While visiting the set of producer Chris Freeman’s feature comedy Bro, What Happened? earlier this week, we got not only an exclusive snap of stars and horror alums Carlee Baker and Jamie Kennedy but also an update on Freeman’s next genre project, Diary of an Exorcist.
Read on!
Filming in Simi Valley, CA, with principal photography nearing completion under the watchful eye of director Dante (aka ‘The Comedian’) Bro, What Happened? stars Lorenzo Lamas, Rebekah Kochan (Flu Bird Horror), Dennis Haskins and the previously mentioned Baker (Lucky McKee’s The Woman) and Kennedy (Scream), (pictured below). Written by director Dante, Kochan and Joe Benkis, the film revolves around “a freshman loser who, after waking up naked in bed with ‘the’ college slut with no memory of the epic party he crashed the night before, finds that he has eight hours to unravel the evening before his fiancée, a crazed drug dealer and Lorenzo Lamas come to collect answers.”
Freeman produces alongside Anthony Clementi, Rhett Giles and Justin Jones.
As for Diary of an Exorcist (which we first reported on here, finishing touches are being applied to the script by producer and writer (with Ian Acher) Freeman, with principal photography set to commence this fall. As we heard it, talent in talks for the film at present include The Hidden actor Ed O’Ross (who worked with Freeman previously in Sorority Party Massacre), Brian Krause (“Charmed”), Bill Millsap (Jurassic Block) and Carlee Baker, with directors currently in discussion.
Check out the logline and synopsis for Diary of an Exorcist below, and stay tuned for more.
Logline:
When a small-town teenage girl shows signs of demonic possession, her father reluctantly turns to an excommunicated priest and finds himself trapped in his home battling a horde of demons hellbent on his family’s destruction.
Synopsis:
Father David Abrahms wanted nothing more than to live a life in service of God. When a fellow priest accuses him of having impure thoughts about another man, life as he knows it ends. Refusing to be delivered from “the spirit of homosexuality,” he is cast out of the fold and disavowed within days. David’s exile makes it all the more difficult when an old “friend” from the church shows up asking a favor. David is now tasked with curing the demonic possession of a teenage girl, who is described by her friends as sweet, reserved and almost prudish. As David’s investigation into the girl’s possession goes forward, he slowly uncovers unsettling evidence that suggests the girl is possessed by not one, but three vile demons, all from his own past and hellbent on David’s destruction.
