Human Skull Discovered in Florida Thrift Store [Horror IRL]
In news that could only originate from Florida, we have learned that an unsuspecting patron recently discovered a human skull while browsing in a North Fort Myers thrift store.
SkyNews reports that the shopper, who just so happens to be an anthropologist by trade, saw the cranium on display while perusing wares at the thrift shop. The surprising discovery caused them to do a double take. Convinced that the skull was human in origin and definitely not a Halloween decoration, the customer suggested to the shop owner that the authorities be alerted to implement next steps and rule out any kind of foul play.
A statement from local law enforcement reads: “In a twist of not-so-humerus events: Today, Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit detectives were notified of a skull located at a thrift store. Based upon the observations of detectives on scene, the skull is believed to be that of a human.”

The proprietor of the shop was apparently unaware that the skull wasn’t a prop and says that the cranium found its way into inventory as part of a storage unit that was purchased several years prior.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office told the outlet that they plan to conduct further testing on the skull but were also quick to say that they do not believe the artifact is necessarily suspicious in nature. Out of an abundance of caution, however, the District 21 Medical Examiner’s Office will take the necessary steps to rule out any sort of foul play.
