Tragic Netflix Crime Thriller Is A Surprise Top 10 Hit
This Argentinian crime thriller has claimed a spot on the Netflix Top 10 Films (Non-English) charts. The title also stands out because we do not get nearly enough movies with older women at the center of this specific subgenre. For all these reasons and more, I fully support the rise of Elena Knows (Original title Elena sabe). Check out the synopsis and trailer below to see if you also want to support this message.

Official Netflix Synopsis
Elena searches for the person responsible for her daughter Rita’s sudden death. Despite the fact that she has a terminal diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, she assumes the role of detective when she doesn’t get any answers. Seeking help from an old friend of her daughter’s, she travels by train from the suburbs to the capital. As she searches for the truth, memories inevitably force her to confront the type of mother she was.
Elena Knows is directed by Anahí Zulma Berneri. It was adapted for the screen by Gabriela Larralde. The movie is based on Claudia Piñeiro’s 2021 novel of the same name. The film stars Érica Rivas, Mercedes Scápola, Miranda de la Serna, and Rocio Belzuz.

Like many of the more interesting Netflix titles, this movie did not receive any press as it was quietly dropped onto the streamer. This makes it even better that enough people have found it to get it into the charts. I am living for it being in the top 10 for two consecutive weeks.
Are you excited to see Elena Knows? Because I am professionally nosy, I need to know what she knows ASAP. Let me know if this is one of your favorite accidental Netflix finds at @misssharai. More importantly, if you read the book, let me know if it does the novel justice.
