This Holiday Horror Movie Is Terrifying Viewers: “It turns ‘The Exorcist’ on its head”

It seems Christmas came early this year for fans of holiday horror. Shudder finally released one of its most highly anticipated indie films on December 8, 2023. Subscribers were finally given front-row seats to this bloody, demonic, twisted, and fun festival darling. If you have not unwrapped your presents yet, you might have missed that The Sacrifice Game is about to be your favorite gift. Let us open this festive fright fest together!

In the film,

“The Blackvale School for Girls, 1971. It’s bad enough that students Samantha (Madison Baines) and Clara (Georgia Acken) can’t go home for the holidays, but things take a deadly turn when a gang of cult killers arrives at their doorstep–just in time for Christmas.”

The Sacrifice Game stars Mena Massoud, Olivia Scott Welch, Gus Kenworthy, Madison Baines, Derek Johns, Laurent Pitre, Chloë Levine, and Georgia Acken.

The holiday horror movie was directed by Jenn Wexler (The Ranger). It was co-written by Jenn Wexler and Sean Redlitz. Redlitz has produced genre titles for over two decades, but this is his first writing credit. Wexler and Redlitz previously worked together on her 2013 short film Halloween Bash.
